120827 Super Junior’s Siwon “Dokdo Is Our Land” Tweet Infuriates Japanese Fans


Recently, Super Junior‘s Siwon tweeted, “Dokdo is our land,” which infuriated Japanese fans. There are rumors that Japanese fans are planning a group activity to express their anger.

On August 10, Siwon retweeted, “Dokdo is our true territory and it is a place of value that must be protected with our lives. Let’s protect it with pride – at Dokdo,” which was originally posted by the Blue House.

Afterwards, Japanese fans expressed their disdain for this tweet. A local Japanese news media published an article named, “Winter Has Arrived Upon K-Pop.” Furthermore, when Osaka’s mayor Toru Hashimoto tweeted, “There is no evidence of comfort women being assaulted by the troops. If there was, I would want to release it to Korea as well,” Siwon’s father Choi Ki Ho replied, “Mayor Toru may be a candidate for the next prime minister but it sure looks like we can see the level of Japan’s politicians. This is evidence that Germany and Japan are different. It would be nice if Japan could admit their wrongs but what is this? I really can’t understand.” This also angered Japanese fans.

On a Japanese magazine, “Cyzo Woman,” a Super Junior fan was interviewed and said, “If you have a son who is promoting in Japan and if you know how your son is viewed in Japan, I don’t think he should say those kinds of things.” The article also mentioned that some fans wanted to throw raw eggs at Super Junior during a fan meeting.

Nevertheless, Super Junior’s popularity is still going strong with “Sexy, Free & Single,” selling over 60,000 copies on the first day of release and reaching the number 2 spot on the Oricon Daily rankings.

120827 Super Junior’s Leeteuk grateful, emotional during MoA concert


As Super Junior wrapped up their concert in Guangzhou, China last August 26, their leader, Leeteuk broke down in tears as he thanked the crowd.

“Haven’t come to Guangzhou in a long time, you are the ones who gave us all the love and support in the world,” said Leeteuk as he addressed the fans in attendance. “Can you wait for me for 2 years?” he asked. Sensing the emotions in his voice, the crowd began cheering, “Uljima, uljima“, a Korean phrase meaning “Don’t cry“. Even fellow member Donghae was asking Leeteuk not to cry.

“We’ve already been together for 8 years…I will return with an even more handsome image!” After saying this, Leeteuk kneeled, bowed to the crowd, and cried.

Later that evening, Leeteuk sent a message to his Chinese fans via his Twitter account. His tweet read, “China ELF who have given us so much, thank you and I love you! The happiness and love that we shared today, in two years’ time I will return it even more! Xie xie!”

The Guangzhou leg of the MoA Concert is Leeteuk’s last overseas stage prior to his military enlistment.

120828 Japanese Fans Plan to Throw Eggs at Fan Meeting Due to Super Junior Siwon’s Thoughts on Dokdo


On August 10, Siwon retweeted a post made by the government that talked about how they should protect what is theirs and that Dokdo is a part of Korea.

Japanese internet users who saw this post commented that they would “throw eggs at the Super Junior fan meeting.”

  • “the character in the drama is living with his grandfather… it’s like me in the past.”
  • He wore a black V-neck and jeans but he didn’t look comfortable. I could feel his tension. Even during the interview, he kept his fist tight and put emphasis on each phrase. On 22nd at Kyungki, Goyang-shi, Ilsan, I met up with Idol group ‘Super Junior”s member Donghae who is currently playing as the lead role in ‘Miss Panda and Hedgehog’. Super Junior, who had a comeback in July, reached #1 in music shows just in two weeks
  • Donghae said the character he plays for the drama ‘Miss Panda and Hedgehog’ (Go Seungji), who is not good at expressing his emotions and is very straight forward, is very close to his normal self.
  • He was used to getting spotlights in concerts but in acting world, he was a maknae. “I’ve done about 6 works as a side-character. But learning about acting never ends.. Si~gh.” He was very tense, unlike a hallyu star (of 7 yrs since debut). In the drama, that started airing on the 18th, he plays the role of Go Seungji- a genius patisserie. ‘Miss Panda..’ is his first main role drama.
  • Did he have any troubles acting as a character who’s been to jail? Donghae said he is very similar to the character. “I was raised in a poor environment too. When I was young, I had to live with my grandfather (and away from my parents) – Just like Go Seungji.” In the drama, he calls actor Park Geun Hyung as ‘Byungmoo Gramps’, and he says Park Geun Hyung sometimes feels like his real grandfather.
  • Acting with sunbae (by 50 years) is hard and pressuring but it’s a great opportunity. He said “Sunbae-nim is very hard. But he always monitors my acting and takes care of me.” Park Geun Hyung said to Donghae after first recording, “Stop minding the camera so much.” The sunbae was able to catch Donghae’s habit left from looking at cameras – as a singer. “We recorded about 13 episode’s worth and I still make most NGs. Haha” (Donghae)
  • In the drama, SeungJi likes to look in the mirror while mumbling, “Maculinea teleius, click beetle,..” and other bug names. Donghae, too, prays in the morning when he wakes up.
  • “I am very thankful that I am able to act and sing- just like i dreamed of as a child. I become happy when I get to recording sites. I am enjoying it.”
  • Donghae has been recording the drama while still performing with Super Junior on the weekends. The most sleep he got in last 4 months is 4 hours. And even during the harsh schedules, he went to learn how to bake, to add more realistic side to the drama. ’Miss Panda…’ is adding more excitement with the patisseries battling. On the episode 3 aired on 25th, Seungji and a patisserie brought by Choi WonIl (Choi Jinhyuk) had a battle. “If I didn’t know how to bake, I wouldn’t understand Seungji’s heart.” When asked, “Who is best in making cake out of all the actors?”, Donghae replied without hesitation “I am the best.” and smiled.

120827 Super Junior’s Leeteuk Tweets Support Message and Mentions Military Service


Super Junior‘s Leeteuk left a heartwarming message on Twitter for his fans.

After wrapping up a concert in China yesterday with fellow members of Super Junior , Leeteuk posted two tweets about his military service, “Chinese ELFs who gave us a lot of presents!! Thank you and we love you!!! Today we shared love and happiness..I will give it back to you and even more in two years!! xie xie!!!”

The Super Junior members further added in another tweet, “The thing that saddens me the most…Is to leave everyone like this and go..The lovely time we spent together went by so fast, I will come back even cooler!! I promise you!!^^ Please watch over my dongsaengs!! I will be watching over you all!! Let’s live bravely without any worries!!! I love you!!!

Earlier this week, the production team of MBC‘s “We Got Married” announced thatTeukSora‘s couple would continue filming until Leeteuk leaves for the military soon.
